Since 2005/6 an annual study visit to the NATO Headquarters in Brussels has been organised for students enrolled in the Faculty of Political Sciences - and now also Political and Social Sciences - upon the initiative of the History of Treaties and International Politics course tutor Prof. Massimo de Leonardis.
The two-day visit with accommodation, air travel, bus transfers to Brussels and lunch at the organization’s headquarters is almost completely subsidised by NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division.
At the NATO headquarters students take part in a series of briefings, in English and Italian, held by officials on various aspects of the Atlantic Alliance's activities and perspectives. They also receive information brochures and detailed information on internships and placement opportunities within the organisation. An average of twenty and thirty students normally attend, accompanied by some professors, researchers and doctoral students.
