The study of humanities - the common cultural heritage of history, philosophy, classical and modern literature, archaeology and art history - at Università Cattolica has its roots in the European medieval university. The founder, Father Agostino Gemelli, highly valued the study of the Humanities and the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy has always opened up to the so-called new humanistic knowledge of communications and cultural and environmental resources.
The Department of Communication and Performing Arts is the main advocate of an explorative project entitled "Migrations/Mediations. Media and communication as resources for intercultural dialogue" that aims to study the phenomenon of migration in the domain of media communication.
Annual conferences analyse the current labour market and focus on employment opportunities; orientation seminars and meetings with professionals from the cultural heritage and communication sectors.
